Pathetic

The media is just doing its job. Commentary is talking about journalists covering the Hill Country flooding and trying to figure out what went wrong.

Yesterday, Gov. Greg Abbott participated in a flyover of the ravaged Texas Hill Country. Afterwards, the governor with his entourage in tow stood before the media to answer a few questions. See the featured photo. One of the questions asked was about the discrepancy in responsibility over communications on warnings, notifications and taking blame.

Here is how the governor responded:

“Who’s to blame? Know this, that’s the word choice of losers

Let me explain one thing about Texas. Every square inch of our state cares about football.

Any size community they care about football, high school, Friday Night lights, college football, or pro. Know this, every football team makes mistakes. The losing teams are the ones trying to point out who’s to blame. The championship teams are the ones who say, ‘don’t worry about it, man. We got this.’

The way winners talk is not to point fingers. They talk about solutions. What Texas is all about is solutions.”

I watched the governor’s response on live TV yesterday afternoon. The governor went on to say that the Texas Legislature, in the upcoming special legislative session, would be investigating the flood.

Just like in the aftermath of the Uvalde Robb Elementary massacre of three years ago, Abbott gets to the site of suffering and grief, pontificates about the resolve of Texans, and runs away from making bold, decisive, action.

His response was borderline bizarre and one hundred percent pathetic.

Abbott said legislative committees would be formed to investigate and find solutions. It looks like the governor is shirking his responsibility – again.

Solutions are needed to solve a problem, a problem that the governor won’t admit we have even though he wants a solution. Pitiful.

Do your job. Own up to the fact that we have a problem and we have had failures.

At the 92-game point of a 162-game regular season, I received my invoice yesterday for the 2026 season. We get options for the World Baseball Classic games that will be played at Daikin Patk next March. Brazil, Great Britain, Italy, Mexico, and the USA are members of the pool who will play at Daikin Park.

I went to Dollar Dog Night with my best friend again. We lost in extra innings. The Astros had their opportunities to score more runs. Oh, well.
