From the Don’t Bogart that Joint, My Friend Department, I have to hand it to Evan Mintz for making the call to put GOP West Texas DA Sarah Stogner smoking a joint on the front page of the Outlook Section hard copy of yesterday’s Chron. See the featured photo. Bravo! A first for sure. Stogner also penned the lead Op-Ed yesterday calling out Texas’s ridiculous marijuana laws.

It has been about a month since DA Stogner smoked a blunt on TikTok. She let everyone know the time and place she would light up. I am betting if a Democratic DA had pulled this move blowhards like Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick would be all over this, calling for resignation and removal and impeachment. Crooked, cheating Ken Paxton would be trying to arrest the DA. These blowhards have not laid a glove on DA Stogner.

DA Stogner has flipped the bird and told those yahoos to kiss her arse and their response, nada. It looks like they are scared of the DA, or she is making them impotent. It is good to see some elected officials on the other side of the aisle not fall in lock step. Good for her. Bravo!

Here is DA Stogner’s Op-Ed: West Texas DA Sarah Stogner: Why I smoked a joint on TikTok.

My Beatles wall calendars for the month of September are sort of movie themed. One is the four on the set of “A Hard Day’s Night” in 1964. The other calendar is the 45-record sleeve of “Ticket to Ride” and “Yes It Is” that was released in 1965. “Ticket to Ride” was in the “Help” flick and album. “Yes It Is” made it to the “Beatles VI” album.

I saw this tweet yesterday from Tags:

The Astros, who were held to one run on an infield single Saturday, manage just two hits and get shut out by the Angels, 3-0, today. They’ll enter September two games ahead of the Mariners and needing an offensive spark. They haven’t scored in 15 innings.

Also, from Tags yesterday on Dog Day at Daikin Park:

Dog attendance today: 567

@ChronAstros tweeted this yesterday

For the first time since May 1, 2023, Luis Garcia will pitch for the Astros when he starts Monday’s series finale against the Angels.

25 games left on the regular-season schedule. We have a two-game lead in the AL West. We host the Angels with a 1 pm start this afternoon. We need better hitting.

Have a safe Labor Day.
