Just in from the Chron:
The Montrose rainbow crosswalk was gone Monday morning after protesters faced off with police as construction crews started restriping the intersection overnight and some were were detained by police.
As of 8:15 a.m., fresh pavement had been laid, and police were blocking off the streets leading to the site, where construction workers continued working on the roadway.
I saw it early this morning on KPRC Channel 2 News. I admit it was quick. Oh, well.

State Rep. Gina Hinojosa announced last week that she is running for Texas Governor. Here is what she told Texas Monthly:
Well, I’m running to be the governor for the people of Texas. Right now we have a governor who does the bidding of the well-connected, corrupt elite, and it’s hurting Texans. We need a governor who puts the interest and the priorities of the people first, and I will be that governor.
You may have seen a report from Public Citizen released last month that details that the governor has given almost $1 billion of our taxpayer dollars in no-bid contracts to his donors. That’s unprecedented. That is an abuse of his emergency executive authority. And it is a level of corruption the likes of which I can’t remember having seen in modern history in Texas.
And this:
Texans have a sense that government is corrupt, but they really don’t know how bad it is. It is the driving force behind most major policy decisions in this state.
We know that when Democrats run statewide in Texas on the issue of reproductive rights, vouchers, shortchanging public education, and Donald Trump, we come up short. Maybe the Hinojosa for Governor campaign thinks the corruption issue will work. Gov. Greg Abbott is bought and paid for, that is a given. Of course, Trump has normalized corruption within MAGA. If Rep. Hinojosa wants to make corruption the focal point, then she must stay focused on this issue. Everything must revolve around corruption and how it affects Texans daily. Go for it.

The Chron E-Board put out their endorsements of the state constitutional amendments. They support nine and oppose eight. I voted for six and against eleven. The E-Board and I disagreed with three.
All the Chron E-Board endorsements are on the opinion page in today’s hard copy.

Two years ago, today was the last time we won a playoff game. We beat the Rangers 5-4 in Game 5 of the 2023 ALCS. So long ago.
