Erika Kirk says Turning Point’s support of JD Vance in 2028 is ‘in the works’

Erika Kirk said that Turning Point’s support of Vice President JD Vance in a possible 2028 presidential election bid is “in the works.”

Kirk, the wife of late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, made the comments to Megyn Kelly during her live show in Glendale, Arizona, over the weekend.

“That was the thing that my husband was very direct about, it was, interestingly enough, one of the last few conversations we had was how intentional he was about supporting JD for 28,” Kirk said to Kelly.

Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath recently met with a top official from Turning Point USA to discuss creating chapters of the conservative youth organization in all of the state’s high schools, days before Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick promised $1 million in campaign funds to help bring the project to life.

The meeting between Morath and Turning Point USA Senior Director Josh Thifault took place on Nov. 3 in Austin, according to records obtained by The Texas Tribune. 

The two gathered in person weeks after Thifault reached out to the agency to ask when the commissioner “would like to speak with me” about the possibility of a partnership to establish Turning Point USA chapters in high schools across Texas, similar to initiatives launched in other states. 

After their meeting, Thifault followed up with Morath via email to provide additional information about the right-wing group’s existing partnerships with Florida and Oklahoma. 

Pretty clear to me that MAGA Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick are exploring ways to make Turning Point USA a part of the curriculum in Texas high schools. These guys are all bonkers. Wake up, Texas.

The 99th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will step off at 77th Street and Central Park West at 8:30 AM. The procession travels to Columbus Circle, turns onto Central Park South and continues down 6th Avenue. At 34th Street, the parade makes its final turn west and concludes in front of Macy’s Herald Square.
