Early Vote Today

Early voting in person for the CD 18 special election runoff starts today. See the featured photo. There are 17 early voting locations across CD 18. There are seven days of early voting in person. The last day to vote early in person is next Tuesday. Folks know Commentary has already voted by mail. Here is an interesting thing. We are supposed to be hit with freezing rain this Saturday afternoon or evening with miserable weather on Sunday and Monday. The bad weather will certainly impact early voting turnout. Folks really need to plan and vote today, tomorrow or Friday.  Just saying.

NBC News decided to carry Donald Trump’s bizarre press thing yesterday. They gave the fella over an hour of live coverage. He didn’t look or sound too good. I’m good with this fella being the MAGA face for the 2026 election.

I saw this in the Chron:

Veteran KHOU 11 Houston news anchor Shern-Min Chow has announced she will leave the station after nearly 30 years.

She teased Monday on her Faceboook page about a big announcement and then Tuesday afternoon revealed her last day at KHOU will be Feb. 9. She has been anchoring the noon and 4 p.m. KHOU news broadcasts. She joined the station in summer 1996.

“There have been some other projects that I have wanted to do but can’t while a full-time employee here,” she said in a Facebook video Tuesday. “There will be more on that later. But right now I just want to take a moment to say thank you.”

I have always been a fan of Shern-Min. Back in my foul ball days, she came by my place and did a story on my collection.  I wish her the best.

Former Astro Carlos Beltrán will be headed to the Baseball Hall of Fame. See this online story:

Will Carlos Beltrán don a Mets cap on his Cooperstown plaque?

That’s the million-dollar question at the moment after the former Mets star, who also spent time with the Royals, Yankees, Cardinals, Astros, Rangers and Giants, was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Tuesday.

Beltrán previously told The Post last year that he would go into the Hall wearing a Mets cap, but he didn’t commit to doing so while appearing on MLB Network on Tuesday night.

“There’s no doubt that my best years in baseball are with two teams, the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets,” Beltrán said. “That’s a decision I would love to sit down with my family, with Jessica, with my kids and make a decision on that. I did really enjoy my time in New York. Now I work as an advisor for the Mets, so there’s a lot of weight wearing the New York [Mets] cap.”

Another former Astro in the Hall of Fame. Beltrán has a World Series ring – as an Astro. Congrats to Carlos Beltrán.
