Mail Ballot Time
Let me say that I get along with Allen Blakemore when I run into him. I think this is hilarious. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s MAGA consultant @AllenBlakemore tweeted this about the SD 9 runoff results:
@JohnRHuffman is a piece of work. He ran against @LeighForTexas in November and got crushed 2:1, 42,000 to 19,000 votes, despite being lavishly bankrolled by Sands Casino with $4 million. He split the vote in a non-primary special election, knowing it could lead to a Democrat win. He didn’t care.
He took to X yesterday, whining that Leigh Wambsganss didn’t reach out to his voters. What a joke! His ignorance and arrogance about voter contact were on display in 2024 when he lost his congressional primary, and again last November – as demonstrated by his pitiful showing. Now he wants to lecture our campaign on the subject.
Remember, he didn’t have the manners or humility to call Leigh after he lost to her. That’s a common courtesy and standard practice. He then refused to endorse her or help her against the Democrat. In fact, he made multiple postings helpful to Rehmet after his November loss. Now he claims he could have brought 19,000 votes to the table that would have given Leigh the win.
Leigh did reach out to every Republican voter in SD 9. Unfortunately, about 61,000 Republicans did not turn out, and she lost by 14,000 votes.
For the record Leigh had the courtesy to call the Democrat Saturday to congratulate him. Something Huffman didn’t have the manners or good judgment to do after he lost.
Leigh will win the seat back in November in a rematch with the Democrat when Republican turnout will be huge.
The results were a big wake-up call for Republican voters. We cannot rest on past success and historic election results. We have to go vote and never take any election for granted. We have a target on our back. We must work to keep Texas Red and we will in November… if we unite after the primaries and run-offs and unite as one party behind our nominees. That’s something that John Huffman failed to do.
Democrats should be good with Texas MAGA airing their dirty laundry for all to see. Keep it up.

The Chron E-Board has started endorsing candidates in the Texas Democratic Party primary. In three high profiles races, they have endorsed Anglo candidates over African American women. I am talking about the primary races for U.S. Senate, Harris County Judge, and Harris County Attorney. African American women are probably one of the largest voting blocks in the Harris County Democratic Party primary. Just an ordinary observation.

It is mail ballot time. I got my 2026 Harris County Democratic Party primary mail ballot yesterday and it is the featured photo today. My ballot is 7 pages long. I am now voting in CD 7 and Lizzie Pannill Fletcher is unopposed in the Democratic Party primary. I was checking out the ballot and at the end there are 13 propositions that were submitted by the Democratic Party. They deal with expanding Medicaid in Texas, immigration and pathway to citizenship, reproductive rights, affordable housing, public school funding, online voter registration, the environment, legalizing weed, minimum wage, redistricting, income taxes, public transportation, and red flag laws. I wonder how many voters are going to stick around and vote on the 13 propositions.
I was checking out the return by mail instructions, and it says to put three forever stamps on the return envelope for four ballot sheets. Mine is four sheets so I must fork over $2.34 in postage. Sounds like a poll tax to Commentary. I suspect most mail ballot voters will just stick on one stamp and they will be delivered. Here is a novel idea. Why not provide a postage paid return envelope. Just saying.

Some in MAGA land are not happy that Bad Bunny is the Super Bowl 60 halftime entertainment. TPUSA is putting together an alternative halftime show with Kid Rock and others. If the NFL had picked Kid Rock instead of Bad Bunny, I would have just hit the mute button during the halftime show.

My Beatles wall calendar for the month of February has the four in a 1962 black and white photo standing outdoors with their guitars and snare drum in front of an abandoned car. The other calendar is a 1965 color photo of the four leaning on a balcony during the filming of “Help.”
