Friday Night Lights

Polls and surveys across the country have Democrats doing well in states like Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, and Texas, of all places. These same polls and surveys are being criticized by MAGA and even some Democrats who refuse to believe that voters have had it with Donald Trump and MAGA policies. MAGA Gov. Greg Abbott is spending a ton of dough on ads going after State Rep. Gina Hinojosa.  Maybe the polls are on to something. We will know in 25 days if the polls were on target.

On a related note, see this from the Chron:

Gov. Greg Abbott is locked in a tight race for a record fourth term in office against state Rep. Gina Hinojosa.

The Republican governor has long been a fundraising juggernaut and he has outraised and outspent his Democratic opponent by a wide margin as he campaigns on a promise to slash property taxes.

Abbott raised $91.5 million from the beginning of 2025 through Sept. 24, the end of the most recent reporting period. His campaign reported roughly 117,000 donations at an average of $784 a piece.

Hinojosa, who was mostly unknown outside of Austin before launching her campaign, has relied on mostly small-dollar donations. She raised $21.7 million through Sept. 24. The majority of that, more than $13 million, came in the last three months. Her campaign reported nearly 437,000 donations at an average of $50 each.

Rep. Hinojosa has over 300,000 more donations. Think about that for a minute. Maybe the polls are telling us something.

On another related note, JD Vance will be campaigning in Tyler, Texas next week. Yep, Tyler, Texas.

Maybe we got them on the run.

Friday Night Lights, err “Today” focused their high school Friday football feature on H-Town’s St. John’s.  KPRC Channel 2 Morning News co-host Sofia Ojeda was on hand. See the featured photo. St. John’s was a good choice in my book. They have a good fan base.
