San Jacinto Day

14 years from today, Texas will celebrate the San Jacinto Day Bi-Centennial.  Today we celebrate the 186th anniversary of San Jacinto Day.

Commentary has said before about growing up in the shadow of the San Jacinto Monument. Remember the Alamo was the battle cry that day.

So much history is out by Highway 225. Too bad most folks here locally still don’t know about it.

Silence. Not a peep from the Harris County GOP on the indictment yesterday of one of their big-time creeps. Commentary is talking about Steven Hotze. Unlawful restraint and assault with a deadly weapon according to the Chron. Of course, from what I hear, many in the local GOP also think he is a creep.  The local GOP was jumping up and down and cheering when staffers for a key Dem got indicted a couple of weeks ago. Not a peep this morning on the Hotze creep from GOPers.

The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation handed out their latest Profile in Courage Awards.  Here is from “Today”:

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Republican Rep. Liz Cheney are among the five recipients of this year’s Profile in Courage Awards for protecting democracy in the United States and around the world.

The Kennedy family and John F. Kennedy Library Foundation have been giving out the awards since 1989 to public servants who have made courageous decisions without regard to personal or professional consequences. The awards are named in honor of JFK’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1957 book, “Profiles in Courage.”

Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, unveiled the recipients exclusively on TODAY Thursday.

In addition to Zelenskyy and Cheney, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, Arizona House Speaker Rusty Bowers, and Georgia Election Department worker Wandrea “Shaye” Moss are also being honored for their actions in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.

Congrats to all.

We nearly got a no-no thrown against us last night. We are 6-6. We have today off.

The Houston Sports Awards last night named Carlos Correa Athlete of the Year.

Oh, well.
