We are heading into the Fourth of July weekend.
Commentary’s favorite character role named July is July Johnson from the “Lonesome Dove” TV mini-series. July was played by Chris Cooper.
My favorite song line with July is from “April Come She Will” by Simon and Garfunkel from “The Graduate” movie soundtrack. Here it is:
“July, she will fly

Half of the year is done. A wacky half year at that.
Gas prices and inflation. I saw $4.29 a gallon in Baytown a couple of days ago.
My neighborhood has not experienced any rain today. I hope we don’t get passed over. We need it.

GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy did Democrats a favor by opting out of participating with the January 6 Committee. He is just sitting on the sidelines watching helplessly.
When McCarthy decided not to play, I thought the January 6 Committee wouldn’t really achieve its goal. Was I wrong. They have methodically laid out the evidence without the childish interruptions they would have encountered with GOP liars on the committee.
This is way too funny. What a dumbarse McCarthy is.

The Hallmark Channel will be running Christmas movies throughout the month of July. The Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel just ran a week of Christmas movies. There must be a market for this.
When it comes to Fourth of July movies to watch, there are only two movies on my list. “Independence Day” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy.”

As most folks know, Commentary doesn’t spend a lot of time tie talking about college sports. I remember when conferences paid attention to geography. Not anymore.

At the beginning of the season, I didn’t think we would have an 11 ½ game lead in the AL West. I didn’t know how good we would be without Carlos Correa. At the beginning of the nine-game stretch against the New York teams, I would have been happy going 4-5. We went 7-2.
We have taken 3 out of 5 from the Yankees and play two games with them on the same day at The Yard in 20 days.
We have played 32 games at The Yard this season and 43 roadies.
The Angels are at The Yard this weekend. They have two of the best players in MLB and are 37-41. That’s baseball.
