Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley, one of Texas’ most prominent Republican local leaders, is backing Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s Democratic challenger.
“The one person who I’ll support statewide that will get me a little in trouble: Mike Collier for lieutenant governor,” Whitley said on Y’all-itics, a WFAA politics podcast.
Whitley and Patrick have frequently clashed, and on the podcast Whitley slammed Patrick for waging “war on local elected officials.” He said the GOP incumbent limited property taxes, a major source of revenue for local governments.

Whitley is not seeking reelection this year. The potential successor he backed in 2022, former Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, lost to a Patrick-endorsed opponent, Tim O’Hare.

Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul cited the privileges given to Trump as a former president as justification for taking 15 boxes of classified documents out of the White House.
“You know, I have lived in the classified world most of my professional career, I personally wouldn’t do that. But I’m not the president of the United States. But he has a different set of rules that apply to him,” McCaul told ABC News’ “This Week” co-anchor Martha Raddatz in an exclusive interview.
We all know of course that this dumbsh_t McCaul would apply the same standard to President Barack Obama. Sure.

From the tone-deaf department, having John Podesta join the President Joe Biden administration for a key role is not a move I support. Sigh. Did Democrats run out of smart folks to play key roles under President Biden? Sigh.

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge hit his 50th dinger of the season last week. This is the second time in his career that he has reached the 50-dinger club.
There has been a total of 30 players in MLB history who have 50 or more dingers in a season. It has happened 47 times. 21 of the 30 MLB clubs are represented.
No Astro has ever hit 50 dingers in a season.
The other AL teams without a 50-dinger club representative are the Angels, Rays, Royals, Twins and White Sox. The three NL teams without a representative are the Dodgers, Nationals and Rockies.
The Dodgers not having a representative is a bit of a surprise. Same for the Rockies since they play at Coors Canaveral.
You know which players are not on the list? How about Hank Aaron and Albert Pujols.
Ok. Since you asked. Jeff Bagwell had 47 dingers for the Astros in 2000.
