Altuve Day
H-Town’s Houston Avenue is getting a lot of run these days. They did a makeover recently and now Mayor John Whitmire is undoing the makeover. Some folks are not happy with the mayor’s decision. I trust the mayor and want to see how this plays out.

Commentary is glad he sounded the alarm on the Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD) Board of Directors elections. This is what the Harris County Democratic Party put out yesterday:
Calling all Democrats interested in public service!
Due to the recent passage of Proposition 4, there will be three (3) new publicly elected members of the Harris Central Appraisal District (HCAD), which is responsible for discovering and appraising property for ad valorem tax purposes for each taxing unit within the boundaries of the district. These positions were quietly included in the legislation by Republican state senator Paul Bettencourt to add Republican control of the property appraisal process. Prior to the new legislation these positions were appointed. To ensure fair representation on HCAD and good governance we need Democrats to run for the open positions.
Surely, some folks will step forward and run for these positions. At least we tried.

Yesterday was February 7. 2/7. It was fitting that my good friend, Mayor John Whitmire, declared yesterday as Jose Altuve Day in H-Town. Altuve signed his extension yesterday and of course he wears numero 27.
I watched the Altuve press conference live on TV yesterday. How come Altuve’s agent was a participant. Oh, well.

That is all I have.
