On Molly
I got a mailer yesterday from Texas State Senate District 15 Democratic candidate Molly Cook letting me know she got an abortion 10 years ago. Got it. See the featured photo. I have been doing political campaigns longer than anyone in these parts and I have to say that is the first time a candidate let me know they got an abortion in a campaign mailer.
Abortion is certainly the most important issue for many Democrats, so I guess it makes sense for Molly to personalize it. It also makes sense for it to come in the form of a letter rather than an 8×11 inch mail piece.
We will see how it plays out as early voting for the Special Election in SD 15 begins on Monday.

The Donald Trump trial now has 12 jurors with 5 alternates to be selected today. I am sure that Trump, his supporters, and Fox News will out the names of the individual jurors as soon as they can. They will do anything to derail his trial. Anything.

Chron sports columnist Jerome Solomon writes about the Astros and their pitiful start and here is a part:
As Jeremy Peña says, if there is any team that has the mindset not to panic, it is the Astros.
While the Astros are indeed led by veterans who have seen almost everything in baseball, not many of them have experienced this. The last time Houston was 6-14 through 20 games was in 2016, when the vast majority of their players had not made their major league debuts.
Peña, Alex Bregman, Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez, Yainer Diaz, Chas McCormick, Jake Meyers, Mauricio Dubón, Jon Singleton, Victor Caratini and Grae Kessinger have never even been on an Astros team that had a losing record through its first 20 games.
José Altuve is the only position player on the roster who has.

The team starts an eight-game roadie this evening that will take them to D.C. for three this weekend with the Nationals, three at Wrigley with the Cubbies next Tuesday through Thursday, and two in Mexico City, yes, Mexico City, with the Rockies on Saturday and Sunday, April 27 and 28.
Have a safe weekend.
