Six Weeks
Election Day is in six weeks. Early Voting in Person begins in 27 days. My mail ballot should be sent to me any day now. The Harris County sample ballot has now been posted on HarrisVotes.com. I have gotten one piece of literature from a Democratic Party canvasser. I have gotten plenty of info on the presidential and Cong. Colin Allred – Cancun Cruz races. I have not heard from the pro HISD bond or anti-bond campaigns. Nada from the folks who want us to support a Harris County property tax hike for flood control.

On a related note, the GOP Texas Governor, who appointed a TEA Commissioner, who ordered an HISD takeover, who appointed an HISD superintendent, who put forward a $4 billion bond proposal. The HISD bonds are now being opposed by the Harris County GOP. Talk about a mess. Got it?

I forgot to mention on “What’s Your Point” Sunday, the Democrats on the Harris County Commissioners Court were blistered for raising our property taxes. I wonder if the GOP members of the Montgomery County Commissioners Court will be blistered next Sunday for raising their property taxes at about the same rate as those in Harris County. Stay tuned!

The lead story on the front page of today’s Chron hard copy is about HISD holding classes on Election Day. See the featured photo. Alief, Conroe, Cy-Fair, Humble, Klein, Spring, and Spring Branch are local ISDs who will not be holding classes on E-Day. I don’t think holding or not holding classes on E-Day is a big deal.

The audience at Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign rally in Indiana, Pennsylvania, on Monday, erupted in applause and chanted, “Send them back,” after the former president said some immigrants — who are in America with legal immigration status — will be deported if he beats Democratic rival Kamala Harris and wins back the White House in November.
Trump whipped up the crowd with his inflammatory claims that some states are being “inundated” with migrants and that some cities will “never be the same” because of it.
I wonder if this includes Trump’s wife.

Latino themed flicks are being featured today on Turner Classic Movies in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month. The flicks that are airing include “The Milagro Beanfield War,” “Zoot Suit,” “Boulevard Nights,” and “The Cisco Kid.” Noticeably missing, “Selena.”
