This Weekend
Harris County with around five million folks and Fort Bend County with close to a million folks are the two largest counties in this part of Texas. The Harris County Judge got herself thrown out of the rodeo yesterday. The Fort Bend County Judge is currently on trial for felony money laundering charges. What an embarrassment.

No, that is not Judge Lina Hidalgo in the featured photo. That ‘s Merida and the bear, err, Eleanor. I just thought it would be appropriate today.

The Chron hard copy has a front-page story today on MAGA attacks on State Rep. James Talarico. Here is how Talarico responds in a statement:
“They’re going to throw everything they have at us. They’re going to call me a radical leftist, they’re going to call me a fake Christian. They’ll call our movement unTexan, unAmerican. They’ll call us a threat. The only truth is, we are a threat to their corrupt system.”
Beautiful response.

There is a lot to do this weekend with great weather. You can go to the rodeo with Go Tejano Day on Sunday. You can stay indoors and glued to your flat screen watching NCAA men’s and women’s hoops. Sunday evening, you can watch the Oscars. The only actor I am rooting for is Amy Madigan for “Weapons.” One of my favorite Madigan movies is “Nowhere to Hide” from 1987.
You can also go to Daikin Park and check out Canada, Italy, Puerto Rico, and Team USA play in the World Baseball Classic.
Since you asked, before tomorrow’s Italy and Puerto Rico’s WBC game, they will play the Puerto Rican national anthem even though Puerto Rico is a territory of the USA. I hope that they have the roof open at Daikin Park this evening and tomorrow afternoon. I wonder how many folks will be waving the Maple Leaf this evening.
