Heights High School is four blocks from my place. It hit home so to speak when I learned yesterday that the high school was threatened by a possible active shooter. At the time, I had a technician here working on internet issues. I wasn’t going to do something dumb like run over there and check things out. Staying in place was my best move. I did hear the helicopters hovering overhead. It turns out it was a false alarm.
A few weeks ago, HISD said it was not prepared to deal with an active shooter. Good thing yesterday’s incident was a hoax.
That was not a good move by the GOP Harris County Commissioners not showing up to the meeting yesterday. It was actually a stunt. The GOP does not have the votes to set a new reduced budget. The Democratic Harris County Judge and the two Democratic County Commissioners, their staff, and political campaign consultants can now plot out the response. Big GOP dummies.
Commentary is not going to say anything about Ken Starr leaving us. You get my drift.
South Carolina U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham has no moral compass. He has no principles. He stands for nothing. He is just a stain on humanity. That is all.
The Daily Beast has a story about another GOP elected official getting caught for election fraud here:
A Republican elections commissioner for upstate Rensselaer County in New York was arrested Tuesday on charges he unlawfully used the names and dates of birth of voters to fraudulently apply for absentee ballots. Court documents allege Jason Schofield, 42, applied for absentee ballots in the names of people who had no interest in voting in 2021 or who did not request absentee ballots. They did not know Schofield was using their personal information. “In some of these instances, according to the indictment, Schofield also took possession of the absentee ballots issued to these voters, brought the ballots to the voters, and had the voters sign absentee ballot envelopes but not actually vote,” a statement from the U.S. attorney’s office in Albany read. “This allowed Schofield or another person to cast votes in these voters’ names, in Rensselaer County’s primary and general elections held in 2021.”
