At 70
It is over. The latest poll has Beto down by 11 points and Rochelle Garza down by 14. If we are to believe that poll, then it is going to be a massacre for sure statewide and locally.
I don’t believe it.

Commentary is 70 today.
A few years ago, a very good friend of mine was fixing to turn 60 and she said she didn’t have a problem turning 60. I said sure, until you have to say you are 60.
I will say it.
I am 70.
Now that didn’t feel bad.
The featured photo was taken back in April. This is what I look like at 70.
Good movies that were released the year I was born that I have seen and enjoy to this day are “High Noon,” “The Quiet Man,” and “Singin’ in the Rain.”
I share October 21 birthdays with the following who are still alive: Doja Cat, Patti Davis (we were born on the same day and year), Zack Greinke, Judge Judy, Kim Kardashian, Manfred Mann, and Benjamin Netanyahu,
I share birthdays with the following who are no longer with us: Celia Cruz, Carrie Fisher, Dizzy Gillespie, and Whitey Ford.
One thing about having an October birthday and working in politics is all the birthdays I have shared with campaign workers, volunteers, candidates, and their families.
For my 30th birthday, I was at the Mark White Campaign for Governor headquarters in San Antonio.
The last few birthdays I have shared with Astros playoffs.
On my 65th birthday, I was at Game 7 of the ALCS when we beat the Yankees to advance to the World Series. That was a great birthday.
I will be going to my Dad’s today in Baytown. Then later this evening it will for sure include Saint Arnold, a nice red, and fancy grub.

I am not surprised we are 2-0 in the ALCS. I am a tad surprised we are 5-0 in the playoffs.
Aaron Boone, the Yankees manager, said Aaron Judge’s shot to right field would have been a dinger if the roof had been closed. MLB makes roof decision, not the Astros. We always want the roof closed in the playoffs.
