Harris County passed their budget yesterday and here is from KPRC Channel 2 News:
HOUSTON – Harris County leaders have finalized funding to raise salaries for deputies and constables, bringing their pay in line with Houston Police Department officers.
H-Town Mayor John Whitmire deserves a huge thank you for making this happen.

Oops!
I forgot to list yesterday the H-Town City Council At-Large Position 4, Unexpired Term Special Election that I also get to vote in. Sorry.

I had a medical appointment a couple of days ago and when I arrived at the facility the medical staff were all wearing face mask coverings and they handed me one to wear. I asked why and they said COVID cases were up. So, I complied, just like the good old days.

I am sure you have heard that Donald Trump wants former FBI Director James Comey indicted for something. I certainly don’t agree with these political prosecutions. I don’t like Comey. He is an SOB. We all know he tried to get cute toward the end of the 2016 presidential election. His involvement and going public at the time were a factor in the outcome. I don’t think very many Democrats will shed a tear if he gets indicted.

This is on the front page of today’s Chron hard copy:
Camp Mystic plans to reopen in summer 2026, a decision that has been met with backlash from families of the 27 girls and counselors who died in the historic flooding at the all-girls Christian camp in Kerr County back in July.
Families received a letter about the reopening on Monday signed by seven members of the Eastland family, including Camp Mystic co-owner Tweety Eastland, whose husband was killed in the flooding. The letter also mentioned plans for the dedication of a memorial to the victims.
Who in the heck would send their kid to this place next summer. Talk about greed. Oh, well.

This is from the Trib:
Six months into his tenure as chair of the Texas Democratic Party, Kendall Scudder is moving the party’s headquarters from Austin to his hometown of Dallas, prompting an exodus of top staff and throwing the party into a state of upheaval ahead of a critical midterm election, according to interviews with over a dozen people familiar with the dynamics.
Every member of the party’s top staff, including the executive director, chief of staff and two communications staffers, is departing after Scudder required them to agree to move to Dallas by November — or else be laid off. A fifth top staffer has already quit, and more departures among the seven other staffers are expected.
The State Democratic Executive Committee, the party’s governing board, voted on Sept. 13 to close the party’s Austin headquarters and move the party’s central hub to Dallas, while maintaining an office in Austin and opening new outposts in Amarillo, Eagle Pass and Houston.
“We are building a grassroots army of working-class Texans in every corner of this state, ceding no territory and standing firm in our convictions to do things differently to win elections,” Scudder said in a news release announcing the new offices.
I really don’t care. I have not been impressed with the Texas Democratic Party for decades. Part of the problem is the Austin-based Democratic political players who have helped drive the State Democratic Party into the ground.

Nope to the featured photo. The Mariners are now the 2025 AL West champions. We lost again last night. They are just about ready to stick a fork into the Astros. One week ago, this morning we were waking up after sweeping the Rangers. Since then, we have been outscored 28 to 8 in 5 games.
