Keep the Change
Here is a hard copy headline on the front page today of the Chron business section:
Americans about to pay even more at the grocery store
It is today’s featured photo.
Now here is from HuffPost:
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was grilled about his department’s plans to print commemorative $250 bills featuring President Donald Trump on Thursday amid growing economic tensions during a heated confrontation in the White House press room.
“Do you think it’s a good idea, though, when people are struggling to afford gas and groceries?” CNN’s Kaitlan Collins asked Bessent during a press briefing.
Bessent confirmed that his department has prepared the design for a $250 bill featuring Trump pending congressional passage. He pushed back against the notion that the Trump administration is pushing for this initiative by clarifying “the president doesn’t do it; the House and the Senate have to do it.”
The $250 bill is a nod to the USA’s 250th birthday this July 4.
I don’t know what Congress will do, but the more debate the merrier for Democrats as the November election is about five months away. Trump’s MAGA lapdogs in Congress have gone all out for a ballroom and are now preparing for the $250 bill thing while Americans struggle. Go for it, you clueless morons, and keep the change.

The Chron E-Board put out an early endorsement a couple of days ago and here is the headline and sub-headline and that is all you need to know:
James Talarico for Senate: Texans deserve better than Ken Paxton’s moral rot | Endorsement
The choice is obvious. Both Republicans and Democrats should prefer a servant leader over a self-serving crook.
Here is the entire endorsement: Talarico for Senate: Texans deserves more than crooked Ken Paxton.

Astros beat the Rangers, 5-1, taking three of four from Texas in Arlington.
The Astros (26-32) go 7-3 on their 10-game road trip and are suddenly only 2 1/2 games out of first place in the AL West — a division where every team is under .500.
We start a 9-game homie this evening with the Brewers at Daikin Park for the weekend.
Stay safe this last weekend in May.
