Never Mind
At least the fellow admits that he sucked up big time, err never mind, See this from the Chron:
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn went so far as to push legislation renaming a highway for President Donald Trump as he sought the president’s endorsement in his hotly contested runoff with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Now he says that bill “may not make it into my priorities the next seven months.”
A week after losing his reelection bid to Paxton, who Trump endorsed in the final days of the race, Cornyn’s political career is seemingly at its end. And the four-term senator — who said he is “looking forward to working in the private sector” — seems to have a new attitude to the president.
He gave it all up for nothing. Zilch. Nada. What a punkarse chump. This is how history should remember this punkarse.

I have been saying this. This is from the latest Chron E-Board take:
The harshest attacks against Paxton haven’t come from D.C. They haven’t even come from Democrats. They have come from his fellow Texas Republicans.
Yep.

Remember this from the Trib about a year ago:
McALLEN — Gov. Greg Abbott wants Texas to get serious about an invasive, parasitic fly that poses a serious threat to the state’s livestock and wildlife.
Abbott ordered the Texas Animal Health Commission and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to establish a Texas New World Screwworm Response Team to help coordinate and share information regarding efforts to stop the spread of the screwworm and prevent infections.
“The mission for the Response Team is clear: to lead Texas’ prevention and response efforts and ensure that Texas remains informed, prepared, and aligned to prevent the re-emergence of this destructive parasite,” Abbott said in a letter to the two state agencies.
Now see this a year later from Reuters:
CHICAGO/MEXICO CITY, June 3 (Reuters) – New World screwworm, a parasitic fly that eats warm-blooded animals alive, has been found in a calf in Texas, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Wednesday evening, exposing the nation’s cattle herd to a serious new threat.
A case was confirmed in a calf in La Pryor, Texas, a town about 30 miles (48 km) northeast of the U.S.-Mexico border – a blow to U.S. cattle ranchers who have been bracing for a domestic screwworm outbreak as the pest has advanced north through Mexico over the past year.
USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins said the case, the first in Texas since 1966, was the only confirmed infestation in the country.
The pest could further shrink the U.S. cattle herd, which is at its lowest level in 75 years. Tight supplies have already reduced beef production and driven prices to record highs for consumers.
The detection also threatens Texas’ livestock industry, which could face up to $1.8 billion in estimated economic losses if the pest spreads, and represents a setback for U.S. efforts that cost millions of dollars to keep the pest out, experts said.
Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller criticized USDA for allowing screwworm to reach the U.S.
“Instead of using every available tool, USDA moved too slowly and relied solely on a partial solution that takes years to fully implement,” he said. Rollins said that the release of sterile flies was the most effective tool and that USDA had invested heavily in production.
Reuters reported on Wednesday morning that samples of a suspected screwworm infestation at a ranch in La Pryor had been sent for testing to the federal government’s lab in Ames, Iowa. Chicago Mercantile Exchange feeder cattle futures extended losses, ending 1.7% lower, with traders worried that confirmation of a U.S. case may reduce demand for beef.
I am sure the arsehole Abbott will try to blame it on Joe Biden. Abbott will never take responsibility.
State Rep. Gina Hinojosa needs to hit Abbott hard on this.
