Tiebreaker

This past week has been a bit refreshing. I have not had to hear and watch the constant campaign ads that were running nonstop heading into primary election day.  Nice.

This fella is a worthless piece of sh_t. A political prosti…, well, you know the word. See this from the Trib:

Sen. John Cornyn announced he supports scrapping the filibuster if needed to pass a voting restrictions bill, a marked change from his longtime support of the procedural tool as he courts the endorsement of President Donald Trump.

In an op-ed in the New York Post, Cornyn argued that Democrats, many of whom voted to reform the filibuster when they had a majority but were stymied by centrists in their party, have “already dealt the filibuster a fatal blow.” The filibuster, which sets a 60-vote threshold to end debate on a bill and bring it up for a vote, essentially gives the minority party veto power over most legislation.

“After careful consideration, I support whatever changes to Senate rules that may prove necessary for us to get the SAVE America Act and homeland security funding past the Democrats’ obstruction, through the Senate, and on the president’s desk for his signature,” Cornyn said. “This could be a ‘talking filibuster’ that removes the obstructionists’ free pass and makes them defend their indefensible views on the Senate floor, or it could be a different reform.”

Cornyn’s change of heart comes amid a grueling primary battle with Attorney General Ken Paxton, who said he’d consider dropping out of the runoff between the two last week if Senate Republicans drop the filibuster and pass the SAVE America Act, which Trump has called his top priority.

It is pretty clear that he is letting himself get punkarsed by cheating, crooked Ken Paxton. It is disgusting.

KPRC Channel 2 News has a piece on the cost of going to the rodeo. This does not include the admission cost to the rodeo and concert performers at NRG. See this from KPRC Channel 2:

When you factor in admission, rides, food and parking, a typical day at the rodeo could cost around $300 for a family of four.

And this:

Grounds admission is required to enter the rodeo grounds outside NRG Stadium.

Adult tickets cost about $25, while tickets for children ages 3 through 12 cost $10.

Depending on the ages of the children, a family of four could spend between $70 and $100 just to get inside the grounds.

And this:

Once inside the rodeo, many families head straight to the carnival.

Individual carnival tickets cost about $1.25 each.

Most rides require three to eight tickets, which means a single ride can cost between $4 and $10.

For families with multiple children riding several rides, the cost can climb quickly.

A family of four could easily spend around $100 on carnival rides alone.

And finally, this:

Food is another major expense.

Classic rodeo favorites like jumbo corn dogs cost about $12, while drinks such as lemonade can cost around $9.

For a family of four, a simple meal could cost close to $90.

Save up for sure.

Team USA lost last night to Italy in the World Baseball Classic. Italy is 3-0. We are 3-1. Mexico is 2-1. Mexico plays Italy tonight at Daikin Park. If Mexico wins, all three teams will be 3-1 and the tiebreaker rule kicks in. See the rule:

The tied teams shall be ranked in the standings according to the lowest quotient of fewest runs allowed divided by the number of defensive outs recorded in the games in that round between the teams tied.

Here is all you need to know on the tiebreaker rule from CBS Sports:

Essentially, Team USA and its fans should root for Italy on Wednesday — and a lot of runs. If Mexico scores six or more runs in a nine-inning game, regardless of the result, that would be enough for Team USA to advance. A low-scoring game — like a 4-2 Mexico win, on the other hand — would see Team USA get eliminated.

Yikes!
